Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, feels like a small regional city than a country's capital; With a population of less than 300,000, it is hardly surprising.
We had a tour of the city's Old Town in the morning after our day trip to Bled, and the weather could not be more different. Under overcast skies, we strolled along the Ljubljanica River, the city's famous Triple Bridge, and some of the cobblestone streets near it. We also visited the Ljubljana Cathedral, the Central Market Square, and made a final stop at Ljubljana Castle, where we also had lunch. Unlike the other castles visited on this trip, Ljubljana Castle was the more modernized and commercialized - parts of it were more of an event space than a historic building. However, it still provided wonderful views of the surrounding city.
Overall, I found the Ljubljana to be a quaint and relaxing place, and would definitely love coming again, perhaps to spend more time sitting at a riverside cafe under better weather.
