Plitvice Lakes National Park was the primary reason for our visit to Croatia on this trip, and the scenery there was definitely worth the extended drive that we had to make to get there.
There are lots of sights to take in at the National Park. The main attraction are, of course, the countless lakes of crystal clear water of all sizes and hues, teaming with schools of fish. The wide array of rushing streams and the endless waterfalls of all sizes that link all these lakes together are no less beautiful.
The park has well maintained wooden paths for most of the routes (that we walked on anyway), so it should be fairly easy for most people to get around, whether you're out to see all the sights, or just to wander along and enjoy the experience. In any case, allocate most of a day to spend at the National Park, as it is worth it.
Here are some of my favourite shots from the day we spent there:
There was one main downside that I noted from our visit, and that was how crowded many sections of the park felt. The Park, being as popular as it is, draws a very large number of tourists, especially in the summer (Us included). Perhaps aiming to arrive earlier in the day would make a visit much more peaceful. The cooler temperatures of the morning would be a bonus too.
