We headed out of Prague to an overcast sky on the second day of the trip, and it remained so when we arrived at Karlštejn Castle, which was approximately 40 km outside of the capital. Karlštejn Castle was established by and named after Charles IV (the Holy Roman Emperor) in the 1300s, and was another of the historically important castles in the region.
We had a tour of part of the castle's interior when we arrived, but we were not able to take photos inside, so the only photos I took were some shots of the castle’s exterior. The tour was very informative on the area's history though, and I definitely liked it, despite the lack of photos (It was also just one of the several tours available. A pity that we didn't have more time.)
After concluding the tour, we walked down the hill on our way out to spend a little more time looking around the small village (also named Karlštejn) by the castle, which was quaint but touristy. However, as it had started raining, we did not stay for long before heading off to our next destination.
